The Federal Capital Territory Administration has set a new directive in which the markets in Abuja will be operated.

This announced was made on Monday, 7th April by the FCT minister Muhammadu Bello during a meeting with the market managers and heads of security agencies, they are to operate three times a week from 7am to 2pm, they are to open on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

The press Statement release by the Chief Press Secretary, Anthony Ogunleye, has it thatĀ  only retailers would be allowed to operate within the markets as wholesale services would not be permitted.

And Bello directed market managers and the Police to ensure compliance with this directive by monitoring all entry and exit points of the various markets as well as activities of the traders.

The ministerĀ  advised FCT residents to patronise markets within their neighbourhoods rather than going to the major markets in the city centre, in order to limit the spread of the virus among communities in the FCT.
