The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has portrayed the payments of withheld lecturers salaries without biometric as fraudulent.
On Thursday, the union said the Office of the Accountant-General of the Alliance utilized the disputable integrated payments and Personal Information System (IPPIS) platform to pay the salaries of the university lecturers, without capturing their biometrics and other information.
ASUU contended that such step by the Government Government affirmed its doubt that the IPPIS was false and unfit for the university system, whereas encouraging the specialists to consider its elective – the university Transparency and Accountability Solution.
The ASUU President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, expressed this in an interview with PUNCH on Thursday in Abuja. He communicated that in case lecturers who did not enlist on IPPIS were paid through the system, it implied that anybody can be imported onto the platform. He also communicated that shortages existed in salaries paid to members of the union.
